Here are 10 tips on how to drive traffic to your blog. Follow these steps and you should start to see results within a couple of weeks.  Many of these tips can also be used to drive traffic to your website. 

1. Social Networking websites. Setup profiles on Myspace, Facebook, Linked In and Squidoo, write a blurb about yourself and link back to your blog.

2. Submit your blog to social bookmarking sites. Here's an extensive list

3. Write newsworthy articles (otherwise know as link bait) and submit them to the following social news websites:
www.reddit.com
www.digg.com
www.netscape.com

4. Find other Bloggers who are blogging about the same things you are, add them to your blog roll and ask them to add a reciprocate link.

5. If you're using a popular blogging too such as Wordpress or Text Pattern, setup a comprehensive ping list.  Ping lists notify other blog listing websites that you're updated your blog. Here's a comprehensive ping list.

6. Comment intelligently on other popular blogs that relate to your blog theme.

7. Post often.  Try to write at least 2 articles per week. If you can't think of something to write about, comment on articles from the media.  I setup Google Alerts to notify me of  news article that relate to my areas of interest then post comments about these on my blog.

8. Don't try to be too quirky with your post headings.  The title of your post should relate very literally to the content of the article.  This is good Search Engine Optimization practice as many blogging platforms will use the article title in the page title and URL address.

9. Setup a Pay Per Click campaign using Google Adwords. Target highly specialised keywords and set your maximum daily spend low to start off with.

10.  Write articles for other websites and ask them to include a link back to your blog.
